Welcome to HouseGeek, otherwise known as Jeff Strang. I have over 16 years' experience in residential construction and inspection. I was in business from 1993-2004 as an Oregon construction contractor (#96029), specializing in residential remodeling and repair. Then I worked for the city of Portland, Oregon, as a Housing Inspector, enforcing the city’s property maintenance code. I was laid off in September, 2009, so I decided to enter the private home inspection field. I became an Oregon Certified Home Inspector in October, 2009 (#1409), and became an Oregon Construction Contractor again in March of this year (#189905).

I know houses, inside and out. I’m a State of Oregon Residential Building Inspector (#5264451-B1 and OIC69), a State of Oregon Residential Plumbing Inspector (#1812CAP), and a certified Oregon Wood-destroying Organisms Structural Inspector (#AG-L1012400CPA). I conduct my business ethically, professionally and personably. I am committed to giving you a thorough, accurate evaluation, and glad to spend time with you going over my report to answer any questions you have that can help you make the right decisions. Once my inspection is complete, I will print a complete report that includes photos and explanations. I am completely independent of real estate agents, brokers and appraisers, as all Oregon Certified Home Inspectors must be.

Price for a regular home inspection: $75 per dwelling unit, plus $0.10/square foot of heated floor space, plus $0.05/square foot of unheated floor space, plus $2/mile for 1-way distance from my home office.
